It will Depend on your Reaction

"Outcome will depend on your reaction." that is what they usual tell me whenever I encounter bad situation. Now, I am in one so I don't know what to do so I turn to the email that my friend set to me. It is abou what Stephen Covery wrote the "90/10 Principle". He said 10 percent of your life is made up of what happens to you while 90% of life is decided by how you react which means we have no control over that 10 percent but You determine the other 90% by your reaction. He stated an example.

"You are having breakfast with your family. Your daughther knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no conrtol over what has just happened. What happens next will be determined by how you react.

You curse. You harshly scold your daughther for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your wife and you criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. (a short verbal battle follows)

You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daugther has been too busy cryingn to finish her breakfast and getting ready to school. (she misses the bus)

Your spouse must leave immidiately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daugther to school. Because you are late you drive 40 miles per hour in a 30 mph speed limit zone. After a 15-minute delat and throwing $60.00 traffic find away, you arrive at school. Your daugther rins into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minute late, you realize your forgot your briefcase. Your day stated terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home.

Whan you arrive home you wil find a small wedge in your relationship with your wife and daugther. Why? Because of how you reacted in the morning."

Based on the example, the cause of everything is how he reacted in those 5 seconds. We do not have control over the cup of coffee. And instead of how he reacted, he could have gently say to his daugther "It's okay honey, you just need to be more careful next time." Grab a towel and go upstairs and change your shirt.  Grab the briefcase and you will come back in time to look through the window and see your daugther getting on the bus.

Workout, Diet, What to do?

It is obvious that I am gaining weight. My friends keep on telling me that I’ve gained weight and I’m tired of hearing that all the time. I am not always conscious about my weight and body figure (guess I’m satisfied for what I am). Anyway, just today I decided to go to the gym everyweek to burn some fat. Some said walking is enough and some say dancing is a good exercise to shape up. Now I’m confused for all I want to do is to loose some weight. I’m quite lucky because I don’t need to spend money to go to a gym because we have one where I work plus we have personal trainer who can guide us on what to do. Now all I need to think of is what to wear and what to eat so that my effort to go to the gym will not be wasted.  I guess I need to avoid pizza (which is really hard for me) and sweets.  Obtaining your ideal weight requires sacrifice… hmmm this is going to be hard for me.

Talking about Bad Children

I was about to go to sleep when I heard this awful news on TV about a maltreatment that a 85 year old woman is getting from her own daugther and son-in-law. Someone caught on video how the poor granny cried in pain because of those two bastards are attacking her with a stick or whatever. They said they locked her up because they don’t want her to get in an accident because she always gets out of the house. I don’t think they explanation is enough to convince anyone that they love their mom. I didn’t think that these people exists. I can understand the son-in law because they aren’t blood related but how about her own daugther? They said they believe in karma but I don’t think they do or maybe they aren’t normal because they think that what they are doing is fine. DSWD said they will file a case against those two and I hope they will because the need to learn a lesson.

PlayStation 3 Addict

Bought PlayStation 3 console last week and I love it! I love the graphics and the style and it is a superb gaming console. I own Xbox 360 I like it too but I love my PS3 more. The only problem with my PS3 is I cannot access playstation network because it is not available here in the Philippines. I am worndering why? Some said it’s because of piracy while other said Sony just does not want to include Philippines in PSN. Anyway, having a PSN account will be a bonus but all in all I like the console. One of it’s features is you can stream movies online if you have a NETFLIX account. Again, Netflix is not available outside US so I’m starting to get frustrated but my brother asked me this question “Did you bought you console because you want to stream media or to play video games?” that made me realize that if I want to watch movies or bluray movies then I should have bought a bluray player and not a gaming console. I guess I don’t have to think of anything at the moment but I sure hope that PSN will be available here someday...
